Frank Gehry's Pritzker Pavilion

STARCHITECT: a commonly used slang word [star+architect] referring to celebrity architects of international acclaim.

Chicago has invited starchitects from around the world to use our city as their canvas. Some contemporary starchitects whose work can be found in Chicago include: Frank Gehry (left), Rem Koolhaas, and Renzo Piano. With the foundation of the Chicago Spire dug we came close to having a building designed by starchitect Santiago Calatrava as well.

    Though Frank Gehry’s Pritzker Pavilion is arguably Chicago’s most prominent work by a starchitect, it’s important to note that Gehry is not a fan of the term ‘starchitect’ or having it applied to him. For more information see the following article:
